World Heritage listing: Thailand to withdraw support for Cambodia Thai Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama is flying to Quebec, Canada Friday to attend Unesco’s World Heritage Convention where he will withdraw Thailand’s support for Cambodia’s proposed listing of the Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site.
The World Heritage Committee considers 47 sites proposed for World Heritage status during a nine-day meeting, which runs from July 2 through 10. In addition to Cambodia, two other Asean member countries - Indonesia and Malaysia – are also proposing to enter their sites on the World Heritage List. Indonesia has Bali, and Malaysia Melaka and George Town, to be listed under the cultural properties category. More on Thailand More on Cambodia More on Indonesia More on Malaysia |
