Vietnam state refiner, Canadian firm in offshore venture
Vietnam’s state oil firm Petrovietnam's exploration arm PVEP said on Tuesday a joint venture with Canada's Talisman Energy would start producing crude oil from two offshore fields within two years, reported Reuters.
The Hai Su Trang (White Sealion) and Hai Su Den (Black Sealion) will be put into commercial production by September 2011 with combined output estimated at around 35,000 barrels per day, PVEP said in a statement.
PVEP, which has a 40 percent stake in the joint venture, also said it had discovered a smaller field nearby called Hai Su Bac (Silver Sealion) with tests showing flow of around 600 barrels of crude oil per day. The company said it was making more tests to assess the commercial viability of the find
