Second 3G services launched in Vietnam
MobiFone officially introduced the 3G services on December 15, 2009, becoming the second mobile network provider to offer 3G services in the country, in accordance with the commitments mentioned in the application profile, VNBusinessNews.com reported.
MobiFone will finish the installation and put into operation its 2,400 3G BTS. It's expected that in the coming three years, MobiFone will complete the instalment of about 7,700 3G BTS or Node B.
The customers using 3G services offered by MobiFone can access services of Mobile Internet, Mobile TV with high access speed.
At the time of launching new services, MobiFone has chosen the HSPA technologies – High Speed Package Access that allows the customers to access internet, email or receives digital-content services with access speed of 7.2 Mbps.
In addition, MobiFone committed to sign 3G roaming contracts with at least 50 3G providers in all over the world at the time of officially launching its services.
MobiFone planned to provide 3G coverage services in 100 percent of crowded urban areas in 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
Within the coming year, MobiFone will provide 3G services to the remaining areas including urban areas, countryside and national highways and after three years, MobiFone will finish coverage works in the rural areas.
