Viet Nam delegation attends APEC Energy Ministers Meeting

HA NOI (VNS) — A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung attended the 11th APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Energy Ministers Meeting (EMM11) in Beijing  the day before yesterday.

The two-day meeting brought together 29 delegations from the 21 member economies of APEC and relevant international organisations.

At a seminar, Viet Nam's representative delivered a speech about their successful implementation of the Energy Preservation and Energy Efficiency Programme. Deputy industry and trade minister Hung highlighted the country's progress as well as lessons learned from the Law for Energy Savings and Energy Efficiency.

The meeting focused on energy security, energy investment and trade, sustainable and efficient energy community development and clean energy resources.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
