Vietnam upgrades airport to boost tourism
Airports in Vietnam have continued to undergo improvement as the government aims to attract more international travelers, reported VNBusinessNews.com.
The most recent upgrade was in December, with the unveiling of Cam Ranh Airport, an architecturally advanced terminal.
A new 12,400-square-metre depot at Lien Khuong Airport was also inaugurated by Southern Airports Corporation (SAC) in December.
"The opening of these new terminals is a major step in the development of Vietnam," said Scott Hodgetts, general manager of the soon-to-open Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa.
"As a hotelier, I can't help but be alert to access. It's encouraging the transport authorities are taking it seriously."
Vietnam's Civil Aviation Administration is now turning its focus to improving facilities at Danang Airport with the construction of a new $74 million terminal.
The terminal is expected to complete by December 2010.
