• Opportunities in Burma-Thai Dawei port
A Burmese-Thai joint development project to build the Dawei (Tavoy) deep-sea port has sparked hope of growth in logistical and transport links beyond the two countries' borders.

• Thai farm zoning
The Agriculture Ministry has stepped up a restructuring programme that could lead to better farm zoning for food and fuel crops in Thailand.

• Singapore's manufacturing output up at slower pace
Singapore's manufacturing output continued to increase at a double-digit pace but the rate of growth came in slower on the back of a drop in the biomedical segment, Channel News Asia reports.

• Philippine legislators against new taxes
Lawmakers on Sunday opposed the imposition of any new tax measure, saying it would only worsen the government’s huge budget deficit. “New tax measures would only burden the people and create domino effect on the eco-nomy,” Rep. Walden Bello said in a statement, reported by the Manila Times.

• Philippine tariff for renewable energy
Consumers will soon start paying for another line item in their electricity bills as incentive to developers of renewable energy projects. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recently released the feed-in-tariff (FIT) rules for renewable energy projects to spur the development of clean and indigenous power sources.
