Goldstone, Synap link-up to promote tourism

Indian software services firm Goldstone Technologies Ltd has teamed up with Thailand’s Synap Media & Infotech Co Ltd to launch an Internet TV or  Internet protocol television (IPTV) services in Thailand, a Reuters report said.

Goldstone, which offers IPTV services in India with state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd , has also signed IPTV distribution agreements for France, Belgium, Spain, Morocco and Malaysia, the company said in a statement. It is also in talks for similar distribution agreements for Israel, Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Japan, the Netherlands and the UK.

Company chairman Nandan Kundetkar said that the focus for the IPTV services in Thailand would be on tourism and hospitality industry to leverage the growing travel by Indians to the South East Asian kingdom.

Goldstone broadcasts 20 television channels along with movies in Hindi, English and several regional languages through the Internet and has its network operating centre in Thailand.

The company expects IPTV services will be a key growth driver in the years ahead as it plans to launch commercial services in 10 countries by June this year.
