Thai foreign minister visits Laos
Thai Foreign Minister Tej Bunnag on Tuesday left Bangkok for a two-day official visit to Asean neighbouring Laos and was expected to follow up development projects earlier agreed by the two governments, said the Thai News Agency (TNA).

The visit will also be a “familiarisation trip” for Tej, who has been appointed to his post late last month as he is scheduled to first meet with his Laotian counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith, also deputy prime minister, in the capital of Vientiane Tuesday.

The Thai minister will later meet with Thai officials in the neighbouring country and also discuss with them about related Thai government’s policies on various issues.

On Wednesday, Tej is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Laotian Prime Minister Buason Buphavan before traveling by car back to Thailand’s northeastern province of Udon Thani to preside over the opening ceremony of a seminar entitled ‘Thailand-Laos Cooperation on Education’.

The Thai foreign minister will also inspect a passport mobile unit at Udon Thani city hall before retuning to Bangkok Wednesday evening.

The two neighbours are also members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).
