ASEAN KEY DESTINATIONS
The humble and taken for granted pumping station at Khlong Phra Kanong (Phra Kanong canal) was a beehive of activity today as the three top political figures in Thailand made an appearance: Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra and opposition leader and former prime minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva.
The prime minister praised the efforts of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration at flood control, reporters jostled and everyone had their picture taken. Not withstanding its new celebrity status, the report on the water flow at Phra Kanong remains the same as yesterday’s Khlong Watch.
The water level remains low, the current remains fast and there is ample debris, mainly uprooted aquatic plants, being pushed to the Chao Phraya River and then to the sea.
