Singapore PM in Vietnam to open industrial park
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Vietnam from January 12 to 15 on the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, reported VNBusinessNews.com.
One of the highlights of the visit will be the groundbreaking ceremony for another Vietnam-Singapore Industrial park, the fourth in the country,w hich, when completed, will be the largest property development in Vietnam.
Singapore is the fifth largest investors in Vietnam with registered cumulative investments of $17 billion as of November last year whilst annual bilateral trade has grown nearly five-fold from Singapore dollar 3.2 billion in 1999 to S$15.6 billion in 2008.
Tourist numbers are also up with the number of Vietnamese visitors going up 18 per cent last year whilst Singapore is Vietnam's 10th largest visitor market.
Prime Minister Lee will also meet President Nguyen Minh Triet and other senior leaders during his visit. He'll also take time out to meet Singaporeans living and working in Hanoi.
