Singapore, Mexico to strengthen cooperation on intellectual property
SINGAPORE: The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation on intellectual property (IP) matters.
The MOU takes effect from Monday and will be in force for three years.
Both offices will work together to improve the quality and efficiency of patent application procedures.
They will also share knowledge to help small and medium enterprises to better manage their IP.
They will also raise public awareness of IP through the pooling of best practices.
The MOU is the second agreement that IPOS has forged with Latin America. The first was with Brazil.
IPOS said these efforts reinforce Singapore's commitment to create a robust and vibrant global network as it aims to become an IP Hub of Asia.
