Bangkok - The recently launched All-New Range Rover Sport, the latest SUV from the Range Rover lineage offering a luxurious and exhilarating sporty driving experience with state-of-the-art capability, has been crowned ‘2014 Four Wheeler of the Year’ by Four Wheeler magazine, the oldest four-wheel drive enthusiast publication in the United States of America. This marks the third time a Land Rover vehicle has won this top honor. The accolade is one of the most coveted awards in the global automotive industry, and is an important achievement for Land Rover as it continues to grow its market position in Thailand.

This annual competition, now in its 41st year, pits the newest 4x4 SUVs against one another in a variety of tests, awarding points for performance, capability and build. The winning vehicle has demonstrated its unassailable quality across the board, impressing judges in every aspect of its design, construction and subsequent usable performance. The ‘2014 Four Wheeler of the Year’ title is important to Land Rover’s developing markets globally as it demonstrates the car can be used in any environment by a wide variety of customers with differing use profiles.

Danai Chandrangam – General Manager, City Automobiles Co. Ltd., said “As the sole authorised distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover in Thailand, City Automobiles is proud to have successfully brought this award-winning vehicle to Thai market. It is a great achievement for the very luxurious and performance-oriented All-New Range Rover Sport to be named ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ by the oldest four-wheel drive enthusiast publication in the United States. Winning this competition highlights the continuous progress this prestigious brand is making globally to enhance its already-leading breadth of capability.”

To qualify for the award, the vehicle must be a new model or have significant improvements over the previous model year. The contestant must also be equipped with a transfer case with a dedicated low-range gear. The complete test results and vehicle evaluations for the 2014 ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ competition are available online now at

The All-New Range Rover Sport has earned much praise; it was granted “Best Premium Midsize Utility Vehicle – 2 Row” from the ALG Residual Value Award by ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data, marking the eighth win in nine years for the Range Rover Sport. Also, it was named on Road & Track magazine’s “Best Cars” list of 2013 in the SUV category. Furthermore, the All-New Range Rover Sport currently holds the ‘4x4 of the Year’ by Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine.

The All-New Range Rover Sport is Land Rover’s fastest, most responsive and agile car to ever hit the market. Its capabilities for on and off-road terrain are unlike any other car of its kind, providing drivers with the ideal blend of sport and luxury. Based on the All-New Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport uses all-new aluminium body architecture to achieve a weight saving of approximately 800lbs and features breakthrough suspension design and innovative dynamic chassis technologies. Land Rover’s vehicles offer superb reliability and ease of handling in some of the world’s toughest frontiers. This off-road capability and dependability is core Land Rover DNA, and can be experienced in all of its current model lines, including the All-New Range Rover Sport.
