As Sofitel So Bangkok gets into the groove for the new year, it’s time to celebrate the achievements of 2015 – the year that the hotel passed its 50th award milestone.

Of the 17 awards received in 2015, accolades included “Best Hotel in Asia Pacific” at the International Hotel Awards 2014, recognition as one of the “Top 10 hotels in Bangkok” in the Cond? Nast Traveler USA Readers’ Choice Awards 2015, as well as inclusion in the list of “Best Business Hotels in Bangkok” for the Business Traveller Awards Asia Pacific 2015. Coming in at number 50 on the running tally was “Asia’s Top Design Hotel” from NOW Travel Asia Awards 2015.

To celebrate its 50th pat on the back, the hotel is launching a “SO 50” campaign. All guests who dine at Red Oven and Park Society between 1st February and 31st March 2016 will stand a chance of scoring one of 50 vouchers, each one offering a 50% discount (food only, for a maximum of a table of 10 diners) and valid for use before 31st May 2016.

“As clich?d as it may sound, we are rewarded daily with the smiles on our guests’ faces, and we are also pleased with the recognition we have received from our friends in the media and the industry. Once a new hotel loses its novelty factor, continued success comes down to quality and sheer hard work from the team; for that, I’d like to thank our SO ambassadors for their support and the unwavering loyalty of SO fans around the world,” said Mr. Yves Mudry, General Manager of Sofitel So Bangkok.

Since opening on 28th February 2012, Sofitel So Bangkok has received acclaim from sources far and wide for its iconic design and service excellence. The hotel offers top class facilities in a downtown address that appeals to both leisure and business guests; other awards among the 50 received to date include recognition for its forest sanctuary So SPA, for its interior design – dreamt to life by five leading local designers – and for its signature      SO-cial dining and wining restaurant Park Society on the 29th floor rooftop.

AseanAffairs   04 January 2011
By David Swartzentruber

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
