KTC donates books to “Library of Intellect” as a part of
the “Life Behind the Bars and on the Death Row at Bangkwang Central Prison” program.

Mr. Vason Singhkasalit (right), Director of Bangkwang Central Prison, and, Mr. Jaroon Ngao-la (left), Director of Inmate Development Unit at Bangkwang Central Prison, are presented with books for the “Library of Intellect” by Mrs. Kandtharat Chermchitphong (center), Senior Vice President of Public and Corporate Affairs, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, The donation of books was a part of the “Life Behind the Bars and on the Death Row at Bangkwang Central Prison” program where members of the press with KTC PR Press Club, KTC employees and students under the Learn & Earn @ KTC were shown the maximum security facility and its death row. As well, visitors were given the chance to discuss experiences with Wisut Boonkasemsanti, M.D., and Mr. Poomarin Pamorntrachookul (Lao Jang), the authors of pocket book titled “Freedom on the Line of 13 Death Row Inmates”. The party was welcomed by The Department of Corrections Inspector Mr. Kittipat Dechapahul who also served as a lecturer. The event took place recently at Bangkwang Central Prison in Nontaburi.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
