Events in March at Promenada Resort Mall Chiang Mai

March 1 – 2, 2014: Chiang Mai Fest 2014

Promenada Resort Mall Chiang Mai is the host venue of “Chiang Mai Fest 2014,” a two-day-long free admission music festival. Bringing great international bands and artists ranging from hard rock to opera, the festival runs from 1-2 March 2014, 17.00 – 22.30 hrs, and is set to be one of Chiang Mai’s biggest 2014 calendar events.  A free Promenada Shuttle Bus will be provided from 3.00pm until midnight during the festival.

Selected artists and bands include Take Two – A boy band known for their indie dance rock style; Matthew Mole – A South African musician who describes his style as folk with a slight electronic influence; Iyeoka – A Nigerian-American poet and soul singer; and Akasha – Asia’s number one 7-piece fusion band, plus many more supporting artists over the two festival days.

February 22 – March 2, 2014: Canada “Taste the Difference”

Experience a range of incredibly fresh and natural Canadian produce, including lobster,                                                 snow crab, fish and seafood, chilled beef, maple syrup, mineral water, organic soymilk and                                                cereals at Canada “Taste the Difference” from 22 February – 2 March. March 15, 2014: The Battle & Dance Jam 2014 by Hug Academy

Hug Academy, Thailand’s popular dance, singing and music school for young entertainers, presents “The Battle & Dance Jam 2014” – a contest of B-Boy dance and team battles, featuring local talent competing to be the best in top rock, footwork, legwork, freeze and power moves! Join in the retro street fun with MC B-Boy 60 Rock, as rival groups challenge each other for a share of 32,000 Baht of prizes. B-Boy audition and final round will take place on 15 March at Promenada Event Hall Building B.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
