Deals Deals and Deals at the C.I.A. summit in Bangkok

World Association of Chinese Elites (WAOCE) and AseanAffairs Business Council (AABC) & India Business Bridge (I.B.B.) & AseanAffairs : The Voice of Southeast Asia (est. 2006), the One & Only media dedicated to Asean brought together 300 international leaders from a dozen countries in business, government, think tanks and media to engage in understanding and riding the $Trillion Trade Tide opportunities of the region and entering into a variety of deals.

100 business leaders from China, members of the Chinese business elite (WAOCE) attended along with 200 leaders from Asean countries and beyond.

Deals Deals and Deals were signed between a number of Chinese and other companies within the ASEAN region. The companies present at the conference were from a variety of industries such as packaging, food, machinery, beverages, infrastructure, tourism, finance, real estate; from Myanmar Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and several other countries who met up with the right partners to enter into Joint ventures and other partnerships.
Dignitaries included the Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok Dr. Supachai Tantikom,  Former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Mr. Korn Dabbaransi, Chairman of WAOCE(world association of Chinese Elite) Mr. Zhang Fan, India Business Bridge (I.B.B) Founder and Chairman Mr. Swarup Roy , Advisor to the President of Myanmar H.E.  U Sein Win Aung, Secretary General of WAOCE Mr. HuaBing Gao and other company heads attended the summit. Malaysia ambassador to Thailand, was also among the other dignitaries.
It began with a Welcome banquet at Shangri-La, Bangkok. Presided over by Her Royal Excellency, Dr. Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura Great Great granddaughter of His Majesty King Rama IV of Thailand and the Chairwoman of AABC & I.B.B.

Mr. Korn Dabbaransi the Former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand spoke on the numerous opportunities for the Asian region and recognised Asia as the propeller of world economy in the 21st century. He said that the combined population of 3.5 billion people in Asia is one of the largest potential market with a huge young population in India. He called the region the United States of Asia.

Mr. Korn was responsible for making the FTA happen between Thailand and China and the India Thailand FTA in 2003. He concluded saying that Thailand was in the middle of the region and can act as a gateway for trade among the countries in the region.

Mr Zhang Fan, Chairman of WAOCE welcomed the delegates. He spoke at length about the opportunities available with the formation of AIIB (Asian Infrastructure Bank) led by China where neighbours should work together on the background of 40 years of cooperation with Asean and China.
He dwelled upon the new Chinese strategy of “one belt one route” to further enhance economic relations in the Asian region.
Mr. Zhang authored a book named “Anti Bribery” and said that the Chinese officials are concerned about corruption and said that anti bribery laws are good for countries.

He called for a win win strategy for companies. He mentioned that the Chinese President has called on the companies to have an eye on the world.

He cited a survey done in 2014 on Chinese billionaires, 70% are listed and hold a total of 31 billion yuan. They give away 1 to 2% of wealth to charity. The survey quotes that there is a demand to invest in the ASEAN region.

Special mention was given to The Chinese President’s 3 targets, welfare of the society by 2021, strengthening the economy, and having a strong legal set up in China
Mr. Hua Bing Gao the Secretary General of WAOCE said that this is a great gathering to make friendship and talk about investing out of china. He stressed the importance of strategic partnership with the members and mentioned about the 40 years of Asean China friendship and shared his experience of his visit to many countries and meeting leaders from mining hotel, property and a lot more.

Mr. Gao suggested that the forum can be used as a cultural and economic platform for growth and future development.
Mr. Swarup Roy the Founder and Chairman of Asean Affairs in Thailand and India Business Bridge in New Delhi spoke about how India is poised to absorb the investible surplus of China and is helping companies from India to prepare and engage the $Trillion Trade Tide which is being unleashed in the region.
 The organisation he has built in AABC (Asean affairs Business council)  and the strong links with the WAOCE having 10000 + Chinese companies is fittingly poised to help companies on both sides of the bridge with the unique state by state structure of I.B.B ( India business bridge).
He urged the Indian companies to take advantage of this structure to help themselves as well as propel India forward.
Purti Group from India with interests in Gas , biofuels, retail and mining were among the participants of the summit. Purti Group Chairman Mr. Nitin Nikhil Gadkari said that the summit was very helpful and was happy to be plugged in to the China India and Asean region to take advantage of the numerous collaborations and commended the work done by I.B.B.
Big Cola of the AJE group, a beverage company from Latin America with a huge presence in Thailand was one of the sponsors of the summit. The Chief Marketing Officer Mr. Jorge López-Dóriga said that he was keen to engage with India Business Bridge to increase their presence in India.

AJE is one of the largest multinational beverage companies, with presence in over 20 countries in Latin America, Asia and Africa, and has a team of 15,000 direct and indirect employees. Mr. Jorge revealed that it is called Big cola as the company’s credo is to “Think Big and dream Bigger”.  AJE is the 10th largest soft drinks company in sales volume and the 4th largest producer of carbonated soft drinks in the world.
Previously Mr. Jorge was Vice President of Marketing for Latin America, Spain and Portugal at BMG Music, as well as Corporate Director of Marketing for Europe at Buena Vista Home Entertainment (Disney). He has also been a partner in media and advertising agencies in Spain such as Initiative Entertainment and Red Publimpact. In addition, Jorge is zen master of the Japanese Soto School of Buddhism.

Mr.Roy reiterated that In the coming months, India Business Bridge (I.B.B.) will be linking numerous Indian & international enterprises to ride the $Trillion Trade Tide, raising 3.1 billion people  of the CIA region to greater levels of prosperity and building A UNIQUE nationwide organization in India linking each of the 30 Indian states on an  operational framework to handhold, train, service and engage thousands of Indian enterprises  with businesses in ASEAN, China and the world.

AseanAffairs Business Council (Ver 1.0) was built over the last 10 years. IBB is ver 2.0.
The summit ended with a strong sense of purpose and excitement for businesses in the region, with both WAOCE and AABC/I.B.B deciding to conduct more summits in India and other countries.

This year in Thailand-what next?

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
