Bangkok Airways starts Bangkok-Mandalay service
4 flights weekly commencing 15 September 2013

Bangkok / 1 August 2013 - Bangkok Airways will be launching new route from Bangkok (BKK) direct to Mandalay (MDL) on September 15th, 2013; operated 4 flights weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) by Airbus 319 with seat capacity of 144. The flight from Bangkok to Mandalay, PG709 departs from Bangkok at 12.00 hrs. arrives Mandalay at 13.20 hrs. and coming back from Mandalay, PG710 departs Mandalay at 14.10 hrs. arrives Bangkok at 16.35 hrs. The Mid-year Promotion for Bangkok - Mandalay roundtrip fare starts at 3,790 baht (excluded airport tax and fuel surcharge) and valid to travel within 30 November 2013.

Currently, Bangkok Airways serves Eight domestic routes: Chiang Mai, Lampang, Sukhothai, Pattaya (U-Tapao), Trat, Phuket, Samui and Krabi and Eleven international routes: Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Yangon, Maldives, Dhaka and Mumbai. Also, Bangkok Airways has codeshare agreements with Thai Airways International, EVA Air, Etihad Airways, Air Berlin, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Finnair, Malaysian Airlines and Japan Airline.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
