‘AirAsia Memories’ Grand Prize winner unveiled!

SEPANG, 17 February 2014 – The ‘AirAsia Memories’ contest, which was launched last year in celebration of the airline’s milestone of flying over 200 million guests in 2013, unveiled its Grand Prize winner who took home awesome prizes of flights, 5-star hotel accommodation and other marvellous goodies.

The contest, organized via a microsite on, called for guests from around the world who have flown across the airline’s vast and extensive route network--spanning across 88 destinations and 22 countries--to share their best travel memories in the form of photos.

The lucky grand prize winner, Loo Hun Kok from Malaysia, had the opportunity to meet AirAsia Bhd CEO Aireen Omar and AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman-Rani who gave away the prizes which consisted of a pair of return flights to any AirAsia or AirAsia X (Premium Seats) destination, a 3D/2N stay at a 5-star hotel courtesy of AirAsiaGo, 2 million BIG Points and 2 Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphones.

Loo’s submission of his AirAsia travel memory in Yogyakarta was selected as the winning photo at the end of the 6-week contest period, which concluded on 20 December 2013.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
