Chile’s export of forestry products on the rise

Chile's export value of forestry products to Vietnam increased to $18.2 million in 2007, up 7.6 times from 1997.

The increase is part of Chile's tendency to raise supply of the products to Asia, Chile's most important forestry exporting market.

According to Chile export promotion agency (ProChile) under the Chilean Foreign Ministry, Asia imported forestry products from Chile worth $1.847 billion in 2007, showing a year-on-year increase of 64.4 percent.

Chile earned $4.952 billion from the export of forestry products in 2007, a year-on-year increase of 27.3 percent. About 1,000 Chilean businesses are involved in exports of more than 350 forestry products to 117 countries and territories worldwide.
