Bahrain's Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, uncle of HM the King of Bahrain, will pay a working visit to Thailand as guest of the Thai Government.
The prime minister of Bahrain arrived in Bangkok on January 14 and was received by Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Nitya Pibulsonggram.
In Bangkok for a private visit, Shaikh Khalifa will start his working visit on January 24, when he will be received at Government House by Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont.
Bilateral talks on bolstering relations will take place before a luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Surayud, who invited Shaikh Khalifa at the time of his official visit to Manama last December.
Mr. Nitya said the invitation underscores the special relations between the two kingdoms, especially as the Embassy of Bahrain to Thailand opened in November.
The parties will discuss cooperation within the framework of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), as well as cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and investment, and culture.
It is expected that a Memorandum of Understanding on health cooperation will be signed during the visit.
There has been a steady increase in the number of medical tourism visitors to Thailand.
