Sub-Mekong countries discuss compiling energy database

The National University of Laos and the Sub-Mekong Region countries held a meeting  to exchange experiences on building a common software network of the six countries to compile and develop a common software network, reported KPL news agency.

Presently, the software on energy and environment of the countries are in various languages, Lao,  Khmer and other languages. That was a problem to be solved.

The discussion was held  at the National University of Laos and  chaired by Mr Bounpong Keooudom, Vice-Rector of the National University of Laos.

The participants were  representatives from the Sub-Mekong Region countries.

Kunvalay Nachaisith, the Secretary of Technical Network said that the aim of the exchange of experiences is to solve various problems that may crop up in the future and these could be  climate change, depletion of  water resources , the energy crunch and sustainable development.

She added that the Sub-Mekong Region countries should jointly develop a common software network  and compile data bases on energy and environment.
