Singapore assures Gambari of its support
Singapore on Sunday assured United Nations special envoy Ibrahim Gambari that it would continue to do all it could to support his efforts to promote national reconciliation and a political solution to the Myanmar situation.

The assurance came as officials from the Singapore's Foreign Ministry met Gambari at the Changi Airport while he was in transiten route to New Delhi from Jakarta.

Gambari is on a six-nation Asian consultation tour to find a peaceful solution to the Myanmar situation.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said that Singapore reiterated its concerns about the situation in Myanmar and hoped the Myanmar authorities would extend their fullest cooperation to Gambari by agreeing to his early return to Myanmar. Courtesy Xinhua
