Singapore Air heralds opening of key routes; A380 makes first flight
The chief executive of Singapore Airlines Ltd. Thursday welcomed the liberalization of a key route in Southeast Asia, as the airline operated the inaugural commercial flight of the first Airbus A380 megaplane.
Chew Choon Seng's comments followed confirmation Thursday from Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who said Malaysia-based low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd. will be allowed to fly the lucrative route.
