Rice to attend Asean meeting in Singapore
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will attend an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) meeting in Singapore next week and visit other Asian countries, AFP quoted her spokesman as saying Monday.

Rice will attend Asean talks on July 23 and July 24 before traveling on to Perth, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand for talks with officials in those cities, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters.

In giving the informal announcement of the trip, he said the secretary will also stop briefly in Apia, Samoa for a meeting of Pacific island leaders and visit Hawaii. He promised more information about her trip as the week progresses.
