President Yudhoyono launches power projects worth $236mn
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono launched four eco-friendly power projects worth a total of US$236 million here on Tuesday.

The four projects launched at a ceremony on the sidelines of the international conference of parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change here, are located in several provinces.

They included Unit 4 of the Kamojang geothermal power plant (PLTP) with a capacity of 60 megawatts (MW) in Laksana village, West Java. It will supply steam to Unit I, II and III of state electricity company PLN's PLTP which has a capacity of 20 MW.

Also inaugurated on the occasion was a steam field in North Sulawesi with a capacity of 40 MW. This project is a well drilling field for the extension and development of a steam pipeline system that will supply steam to the 20-MW Unit I and 20-MW Unit II of a PLN' PLTP.

The third project is the Sibanyak steam field project in North Sumatra for steam supply to a 10-MW PLTP.

The fourth ptoject launched was the Darajat project in Garut district, West Java.
The project is a well drilling for the development of a steam gathering system and power plant with a capacity of 110 MW.
