PT Ecogreen Oleochemicals, which is owned by three company groups - Djarum, Wings and Lautan Luas - plans to expand its capacity to 300,000 tons of fatty alcohol a year.

The fatty alcohol capacity will be expanded from 192,000 tons making it one of the world's largest producer of detergent basic material in the world.

Ecogreen, which is 47.7 per cent owned by the Wings Group, 33.3 per cent by the Lautan Luasa Group and 19 per cent by the Djarum group, reported sales at US$220 million in 2006, up from US$105 million in the previous year.

The three companies acquired Ecogreen, formerly PT Batamas Megah from the Indonesian banking rescue agency BPPN, which too it over from the old owner the Salim group in compensation of a debt to the government.
