State enterprises urged to invest $16.5bn in 2008

The Indonesian government hoped the stated-owned enterprises to invest at least 150 trillion rupiah ( some 16.5 billion U.S. dollars) in infrastructure next year to reach the 6.8 percent economic growth target, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Sofyan Djalil said here Tuesday.

Minister Djalil said that the enterprises in 2008 would have a better profits.

"The government wants the stated-owned enterprises to invest at least 150 trillion rupiah in 2008 to develop bridges, road seaport, railway and others," he told a press conference at the State Palace here.
