US-based General Electric (GE), the global technology, media and financial services company on Saturday opened the first ‘GE Day’ in Vietnam on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of GE’s presence in the country, in Ha Noi, reported Vietnam News Service online.

"The country is playing a central role in GE’s growth strategy in the region, which made GE decide to bring our key event - GE Day - to the country for the first time," Ferdinando Nani Beccalli-Falco, President and CEO of GE International, was quoted as telling at the opening ceremony.

On the occasion, GE exhibited advanced technologies and machines in energy, security, aviation, health care, transportation, water, industrial, oil and gas as well as financial services. About 400 clients attended the exhibition.

GE has invested some $61 million into an energy factory at Nomura Industrial Zone in the northern city of Hai Phong, expecting to generate 400 jobs there.

GE has been operating in Viet Nam since 1993 and now taps into 100 nations with over 300,000 employees. GE Day has been organised in various countries for many years.
