Grand Opening of the
Bumrungrad International Clinic on 31 July 2008




Bangkok (31 July 2008) – Bumrungrad International today celebrates the grand opening of its Bumrungrad International Clinic, a new building that will double the hospital’s capacity to 6,000 outpatients per day, making it the largest private-sector outpatient clinic in the world.
Bumrungrad International Clinic is a 22-storey building with 53,000 square meters of floor space.  It is designed to be the best place for patients to meet their doctors, with such features as:
•    a modern atmosphere that is relaxed, comfortable and friendly
•    one-stop convenience, with cashier and pharmacy stations on each clinic floor
•    technology features such as wi-fi; LCD directories and TV; an automated lab to provide faster, more reliable results; and online registration, medical records, and diagnostic images, allowing doctors immediate access to patient information from their exam room computers
•    amenities such as attractive waiting rooms, an international food court, shops and premium lounges
•    parking facilities for over 700 vehicles.
The new building offers a variety of specialties including check-ups, allergy, heart,    hormones and nutrition, infectious disease, kidney, neurology, pain management, pul-monology, rheumatology, urology, and men’s health. There are more than 250 examination rooms, each featuring new equipment and technology.

A spacious 10th floor Sky Lobby is split into one side for Thai and resident expat patients, another for international visitors. The resident side features the new Napa Lounge, a premium lounge similar to airport business class lounges, with complimentary snacks, publications and TV, and computer access.  It will be open to members of Bumrungrad’s new Healthy Living Club program. The international side has a similar facility for its International Medical Coordination Office, where foreign patients can get advice and service for their special needs. Between the sides is a café and bookstore.

Above the Sky Lobby is The Mezz, with six international restaurants serving New      Orleans, Lebanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Italian cuisine.
Mr. Mack Banner, Bumrungrad’s CEO, said, “This new building is part of our plan for ex-panding Bumrungrad International in Bangkok to give better service to more patients.  The current building, which opened in 1997, will be modernized and used as the main building for inpatient services. We are upgrading the rooms and will expand to 600 total beds within five years.” Bumrungrad currently offers services to more than 1,200,000 Thai and international patients each year, with international patients from more than 190 different countries.  The hospital has been called a leading medical travel destination in the international press, and was recently voted Thailand’s most admired company for quality by readers of the Asian Wall Street Journal.

Bumrungrad is also taking this opportunity to launch its Healthy Living Club membership cards for people who care about their health.  The card offers residents of Thailand extra value and privileges; three-year membership costs nothing when you register at the time of a comprehensive or executive check-up.
