AABC to boost business opportunities in Asean
Council draws diplomats, businessmen from Asean, EU and US

The first meeting of the ASEANAFFAIRS Business Council (AABC), held at the Bangkok residence of Ibrahim Yusuf, Indonesian ambassador to Thailand, on November 9th , brought together diplomats, trade representatives and business leaders from the 10-nation Asean and their trade partners.

Introducing the ASEANAFFAIRS Business Council, S. Roy, founder and CEO of ASEANAFFAIRS, said AABC would be a forum to promote Asean, to highlight business opportunities the region offers, to exchange ideas and insights on topics of interest. After the first meeting in Bangkok, AABC conferences will be held in other Asean capitals to enable Asean-wide participation, and draw scholars, academics, think tanks and representatives from Asean-related organisations as well, he said.

Roy is also the founder and CEO of Time Co Ltd, the parent company of ASEANAFFAIRS, the only publication dedicated to providing current and crucial information on the region through an online magazine, and a quarterly print edition with the same name. Among the supporters of ASEANAFFAIRS, and the AABC was Ibrahim Yusuf, Indonesian ambassador to Thailand, who was the host of the inaugural AABC. The ambassador noted that ASEANAFFAIRS would serve as an indispensable publication for all Asean-based businesses and potential investors seeking more information on the region, and the introduction of AABC will open vistas for better understanding of doing business in Asean. He stressed the importance of AABC as a network which brings together the government and private sector in Asean as well as those from Asean’s trade partners across the globe.
