Tourism: Over half of Malaysians travel overseas

More than half of Malaysia's population travel to overseas destinations every year and the government has yet to find out why.
Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said this was because the government did not require them to fill out forms stating the reasons for their overseas trips before leaving the country.
"There are 26 million people in this country, but every year 15 million Malaysians go out (to other countries).
"We know why people come in but we don't know why they leave," he said when launching the Kembara Bernama-Tourism Malaysia Kuala Lumpur-Terengganu 2007 at the Malaysia Tourism Centre in Jalan Ampang here Thursday.
Tengku Adnan said the ministry might impose a procedure soon to get outbound travellers to fill out forms to better understand the reasons behind the exodus.
Present at the launching was Bernama general manager Azman Ujang and editor-in-chief Yong Soo Heong.
