Volkswagen to make Thailand parts production hub

Germany-based Volkswagen AG, the world's fourth largest automobile manufacturer, is keen to invest in making Thailand its automotive parts production hub, to supply parts to its plants worldwide, a spokesman of Thailand's Ministry of Commerce said.
Officials of Volkswagen, which now ranks  after Toyota, GM and Ford, recently visited Thailand for talks with manufacturers and suppliers of auto spare parts. Volkswagen corporate experts plan to visit the Kingdom again to place purchase orders.
Volkswagen, according to the spokesman, also wants to invest with local investors in setting up a plant in Thailand, said the spokesman.
