Russian giant Rusal eyes Vietnam
Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed United Company RUSAL, the world's largest producer of aluminium and alloys, to study investment opportunities in Vietnam during a meeting with the company's director for corporate strategy, Artem Volynets, in Hanoi on August 7.

Dung told Volynets that Vietnam possessed a huge volume of aluminium, mainly concentrated in Tay Nguyen (the Central Highlands) provinces.

He said the government wanted to intensively develop Vietnam's aluminium industry. The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group is now investing in developing the aluminium industry. The group was also preparing to build a railroad, roads and a deep sea port for the industry's use, Dung added.

The Prime Minister also asked the Russian company to negotiate with the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group in order to spur development of the industry.

Volynets said the company would help Vietnam develop its aluminium industry while implementing auxiliary infrastructure projects such as sea ports, roads and railways. VNA
