Vietnamese transport delegation visits Laos
A Vietnamese transportation delegation was received by Samane Vinhaketh, Politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), in Vientiane, Laos, on August 3.

Vinhaketh, who doubles as Head of the Steering Committee on Ideological, Theorical and Cultural Work of the LPRP Central Committee, welcomed the delegation’s visit as an active contribution to traditional bilateral relations.

“Relations between the two Parties, two States and two peoples, have been built by the Vietnamese and Lao people and cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane,” said the Lao Party official.

In the afternoon, the Lao Ministry of Communication, Transport, Post and Construction (MCTPC) held a friendly get-together with the Vietnamese transport delegation led by Deputy Minister Ngo Thinh Duc.

The event was attended by Sommat Phonesena, member of the LPRP Central Committee and MCTPC Minister; and Somcot Mannomek, member of the LPRP Central Committee, Minister of Education, and Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association.

Deputy MCTPC Minister Sithong Thoongkeo hailed great contributions made by Vietnamese transport experts and units to the construction of key roads leading to battlefields as well as in personnel training in Laos during the wartime.

“Vietnamese transport experts now continue with their efforts in helping Laos build new roads and upgrade traffic arteries in nine provinces, such as Road 13 and Vientiane internal traffic system,” said the Lao official.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Transport Ngo Thinh Duc said he believed the transport sectors of the two countries will have more opportunities to further develop within bilateral and multilateral forums, such as the Greater Mekong Sub-Region and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. VNA
