Vietnam ranks 4th in global retail market allure
Vietnam dropped a place to fourth in an AT Kearney Group survey that measures the most attractive retail markets in the world. The country ranked behind India, Russia and China on the Grlobal Retail Development Index (GRDI).

“Although Viet Nam fell one place to number four on the 2007 index, it remains very attractive as one of the fastest growing economies in Asia,” AT Kearney wrote in its report released earlier this month. “This country joined the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 2006 and is proving a tempting target for global retailers.”

AT Kearney, an international management consulting firm, also noted Viet Nam’s young population and growing urbanisation to its high ranking.

It was the sixth year AT Kearney compiled the GRDI which identifies windows of opportunity to help retailers make strategic investments. It ranks the top 30 emerging countries for retail development. Countries were selected based on risk, population size, wealth and market saturation. VNA
