Bina Puri wins two contracts worth US$21.5m
Bina Puri Holdings Bhd on July 18 said its Thai unit, Bina Puri (Thailand) Ltd, has won two contracts worth a total of RM74 million (US$21.5 million) to build low-cost houses for the National Housing Authority of Thailand, Reuters reported.

Bina Puri Thailand's joint venture Bina Puri Dimara JV was awarded one project on June 29 to build 1,074 units (24 blocks) of five storey walkup flats for 278.91 million baht. On July 9, the joint venture was appointed to build 1,440 units (32 blocks) of five storey walkup flats for 369.79 million baht.

Both projects are expected to be completed within 14 months, Bina Puri said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia. Bina Puri ventured into Thailand's construction sector in 2003. With the two contracts, its Thai unit is building 35,005 units of low cost houses at 10 locations in the suburbs of Bangkok and nearby provinces. The statement said Bina Puri's total book order in Thailand is currently RM1.48 billion. Reuters
