Khammouane to export 55 tonnes of gypsum this year
The central province of Khammouane aims to export 55,000 tonnes of gypsum, worth three billion kip, this year.

Khammouane said this week that its export of gypsum is strengthened by only a Vietnamese company Mining Development in Ban Nadon of Thakhek district, which extracts 30,000-70,000 tonnes of gypsum annually.

In 2004, the company was allowed by the government to prospect and extract gypsum on its concession area of over 81 ha for 30 years.

According to the Planning and Investment Committee of the province, Khammouane exported over 7,000 tonnes of gypsum in 2005 and 40,000 tonnes last year.

The export of minerals of Khammouane has been significant in recent years especially, tin, gypsum, and limestone.

Last year, Khammouane earned 39 billion kip from the export of minerals, increasing from 13 billion kip in 2005. KPL
