Seven Malaysian companies win awards
Seven Malaysian companies were recognised for their best practices and outstanding performance in the automotive industry at Frost & Sullivan 2007 Asean Automotive Awards held in Kuala Lumpur on June 28.

The companies are Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua), Naza Kia Sdn Bhd, Ingress Corporation Bhd, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, Automotive Synergy Sdn Bhd, Public Bank Bhd and Automotive Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (ACM).

Frost & Sullivan's partner and head of the automotive and transportation practice, Asia Pacific, Kavan Mukhtyar, said the award receipients clearly demonstrated outstanding leadership in their own market segments.

"A common factor among these companies was an unwavering focus on a customer-centric growth strategy in an extremely challenging environment in 2006," he said.

The Business Development Strategy for Navigation Market Award went to Automotive Synergy while UMW Toyota Motor's Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8 G (A) was the winner for the Best Safety Features in Mid-Car Segment Award.

Perodua's car, Perodua Myvi, won the Best Model of the Year (Malaysia) Award.

Public Bank Bhd received the Automotive Finance Company of the Year (Malaysia) Award.

ACM was the Market Leadership for Commercial Vehicles (Malaysia) Award winner while Ingress received the Automotive Component Manufacturer of the Year (Malaysia) Award.
