Laos hosts 7th meeting on transnational crime
The 7th Meeting on Transnational Crime opened in Vientianne on June 26 to enhance cooperation among Asean member countries and its six dialogue partners.

The meeting gathered delegates of 10 Asean member countries, including Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The six dialogue partners of Asean are China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Russia and India.

The meeting addressed issues on enhancing cooperation among Asean member countries and dialogue partners in countering transnational crimes.

The issues raised for discussion include combat against terrorism, narcotic drug smuggling, weapons trade, sea piracy, money laundering, high-tech crimes, fake passports making and human trafficking.

The enhancement of cooperation to combat transnational crimes between Asean and its dialogue partners is on the top agenda of the meeting.
The delegates are to discuss in different meetings, including a meeting on Asean+3 (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea), Asean+1 (China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Russia and India). KPL
