06 June 2012

Investment outlook and opportunities in Myanmar will take centre stage during the upcoming invetsment summit in Yangon scheduled to be held on June 20-21.

As the country recently opened up its doors to rest of the world through a series of reforms, Myanmar, dubbed by many as potential "Asian tiger" with untapped rich geological and energy resources, is drawing swift foreign investments.

The summit is themed as Business Strategies and Successful JVs (joint ventures).

It will provide pointers on key clauses of the newly reformed country's new Investment Law, advice on acquiring land concessions for investment, financing, foreign loans and security issues.

U. Htin Aung, director general of energy planning form Myanmar's ministry of energy, and many high officials of important business houses are scheduled to attend.

The United States, European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, India and many other countries, including Bangladesh, are keen to engage in business with Myanmar.
