Clinton visits Malaysia
At a recent briefing in Washington DC on the forthcoming visit, he said it would enable Clinton to have an opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and his key cabinet minister on a range of issues.
"Few countries have come as far, in terms of our bilateral relationship as the one between the United States and Malaysia," he added.
Campbell said there had been enormous progress on a range of issues between the United States and Malaysia on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, political coordination and strategic dialogue.
Malaysia's relationship with the US has been enhanced significantly since Najib's initial meeting with US President Barack Obama in April this year.
Najib has been commended by Obama for having initiated legislation against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The US Government has viewed Malaysia s economic vibrancy, democracy, and willingness to cooperate on key security and multilateral issues as having formed the basis for a strong bilateral partnership.
The US is Malaysia's third most important trading and business partner with Malaysian exports exceeding US$25 billion annually.
