Malaysian Prime Minister stresses importance of transformation

The 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) that will be unveiled today, outlining more measures to transform the nation into a high-income economy.

The five-year plan, that runs from 2011 to 2015, is likely to focus on how to get the private sector to drive the economy and contains more efforts to improve human capital, economists say.

Malaysia needs the private sector to invest more because the government has to keep its finances in check after spending some RM67 billion over the past two years to spur a weak economy.
