MISC falls below Petronas revised takeover offer

Shares of MISC Bhd were trading below Petroliam Nasional Bhd's (Petronas) revised conditional takeover offer of RM5.50 on Friday.

At 9.31am, MISC was down 11 sen to RM5.33 with 219,600 shares done.

The FBM KLCI rose 1.23 points to 1,707.49. Turnover was 68.87 million shares valued at RM56.33mil. There were 115 gainers, 102 losers and 149 counters unchanged.

Petronas' offer closes at 5pm on Friday. It had revised the offer from RM5.30 earlier.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
