Asean central bankers to meet in Malaysia
The Southeast Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Research and Training Centre, Bank Negara Malaysia and the Institute of Bankers Malaysia (IBBM), are organising a two-day event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which will focus on the legal challenges facing central banks in the region, Malaysia’s state news agency Bernama reported.
The event, Banking and Financial Law School 2009, to be held here from September 24-25, will look at issues relating to central banking legislation, regulation of financial institutions and corporate law.
A statement from Bank Negara Malaysia said the event will also touch on legal resolutions available to regulators in times of crisis as well as the adequacy of these avenues in light of the prevailing global crisis.
The event themed "Current Challenges in Central Banking - A Legal Perspective" will see the Governor of BNM and chairman of SEACEN Board of Governors Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz delivering the keynote address.
Participants who wish to attend the event are invited to download the registration form from the following websites - www.bnm.gov.my (under notices and announcements) or www.ibbm.org.my (under events) or www.seacen.org (under training events and meetings).
