Malaysia airport reports 17% increase in passenger traffic

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, which operates the KL International Airport (KLIA), reported a 16.7 percent increase in international and domestic passenger traffic in October for the country’s main international airport compared to a year ago, the StarBiz reported.

Data provided by MAHB showed an 18.8 percent surge to 1.76 million international passengers for KLIA for this October compared to last October while the number of domestic passengers was up by 12.6 percent to 848,656.

The company said there was a total 15.7 percent increase in passenger traffic to 4.48 million for other airports it operated in Malaysia and abroad for the month under review.

It added that total cargo movement for KLIA increased by 11.1 percent to 57.53 million kg with international cargo increasing by 10.7 percent to 52.65 million kg while domestic cargo rose 15.9 percent to 4.87 million kg.
