AirAsia wins ‘Best Innovations Paradigm’ Award!


CHINA, 20 June 2013 - AirAsia, the world’s best low cost airline for 5 consecutive years, was named  the ‘Best Innovations Paradigm’ award winner at the China Finance Summit & China Dream Brand Tribute Night 2013, held in Beijing China recently.

The award ceremony was attended by China’s Government leaders, international organizations and NGOs, foreign investment institutions, industry experts, representatives from global corporations and mainstream media from China.

AirAsia Group CEO, Tony Fernandes said, “It is a proud moment for us to win an award in China, one of the biggest and most significant markets for AirAsia. Thank you to everyone that believed in the LCC model and of course our guests, for their support and confidence in us".

China Finance Summit 2013, in its second year, awards enterprises and corporations of various industries, as recognition to the efforts made in economic development and environment. Potential award recipients were nominated via self-registration or recommendations and nominations by the media or other organizations. The nominees include country-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and foreign enterprises in China as well as prominent figures from any industry.

A representative of China Finance Summit commented, “AirAsia has always been known for innovative business ideas, well use of modern technology and masters in cost management which kept operating costs low. The concept of “now everyone can fly” via simple mode of operation successfully opened up a broader market and has won the world's attention. AirAsia changed the air-travel trends and became a saviour for the underserved. AirAsia provides convenience and a speedy service, the first foreign low cost airline which has successfully won the hearts of the people of China.”

Through inexhaustible effort and constant innovations throughout its 11 years in operations, AirAsia enjoyed tremendous growth and became a market leader in the aviation industry, and soon to reach an amazing 200 million passengers flown. The award of ‘Best Innovation Paradigm’ is absolutely a high recognition for AirAsia and a testament for its magnificent practices and innovation which greatly created impact and changed the aviation industry.

AirAsia have made a significant presence in China since 2005. The airline successfully spread its wings to 15 destinations in China from its hubs in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia (together with the airline’s low cost long-haul affiliate, AirAsia X) in only 7 years.

The destinations include Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, GuangZhou, HangZhou, WuHan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi an, Guilin, Nanning, Kunming, Shenzhen. Now, there are 260 weekly flights to China from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Medan and the passengers load has reached 12,916,066.

“Best Innovation Paradigm” award is the 6th award which AirAsia has won since the beginning of 2013. AirAsia was also named as the proud recipient of  Skytrax’s World’s Best Low Cost Airline for 5 consecutive years.

This year in Thailand-what next?

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
