FT BN plots to capture four seats from DAP

The Federal Territory Barisan Nasional (BN) is working hard to capture four parliamentary seats from the DAP, while defending nine other seats in the coming general election.

The seats held by the DAP are Kepong, Bukit Bintang, Cheras, and Seputeh.

Federal Territory BN chairman Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique said the coalition was confident of wresting the four seats as its members of parliament had been working hard for the past four years.

"We are confident of repeating the 2004 (general election) performance by retaining the nine seats and are working hard to capture the four seats from the opposition party," he told reporters after launching a kite festival in conjunction with Federal Territory Day here, Sunday.

Asked whether he would defend the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat, Zulhasnan who is also Federal Territories Minister, said it was up to the Prime Minister to decide.

"What is important is that all BN members of parliament (in the Federal Territories) had worked hard for the past four years," he said.

On whether the price hike of goods would affect the BN showing in the next general election, he said it was minimal, as compared to other countries.

He said the government had also subsidised many goods and as a developing country, price increase was normal but efforts were being carried out to address the problem.

Present were Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Putrajaya Corporation president Tan Sri Samsudin Osman.
