Laos to host Asean rubber conference 2009 The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Rubber Conference 2009 will be held in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, from June 18 to June 20 in 2009, with the participation of almost 700 rubber industry experts and policymakers from 25 countries and regions, the Lao newspaper Vientiane Times reported Tuesday. Participants will discuss issues concerning the world's natural rubber demand and supply trends, sustainable and profitable strategies for natural rubber, development of small rubber enterprises and technology to meet global competitiveness, and the price outlook for 2009 and 2010. The event under the theme "Technology, Innovation and Market Driven Strategies: Keys to global development of the natural rubber industry" will be a chance for participants to get access to the latest research findings and developments on new high yielding rubber varieties and measures to prevent diseases that affect rubber trees. |
