Japan to help Thailand set up N-power plant
The Japanese government is prepared to offer personnel training, research and to help educate Thai people to understand a need to construct a nuclear-powered electricity plant in Thailand, Thai News Agency quoted Thai Energy Minister Poonpirom Liptapanlop as saying Saturday.

Poonpirom said after holding talks with Toshihiro Nikai and Takamori Yoshikawa, minister and senior vice minister, respectively, of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), that both had pledged support and assistance for Thailand's plan to build a nuclear-powered electricity generating reactor in future.

She said Norkhun Sitthipong, Thailand's deputy permanent secretary for energy, will be responsible for supervising followup details of the two countries cooperation.

During the talks, the Japanese ministers also discussed Thailand's plans for the use of alternative energy, said Mrs. Poonpirom.
