Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi said he agreed with a plan to move the capital from Jakarta.

However, he proposed it is only the administration activities which need to be moved. Speaking after attending a meeting between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and media owners, Gamawan said that all the options have been discussed especially to help settle the problem of acute traffic jams in Jakarta.

The first option is maintaining Jakarta as the capital by putting all problems in the city into order, he said. The second option is moving the administration activities from Jakarta, but still maintaining it as the center of trade.

The third is moving the whole capital, including both the economy and administration centers, like what is done in Brazil, the Netherlands and Australia.

The minister said that the president has established a small team in charge of assessing the establishment of a new capital.
